Redefining “Health”: Why Health Isn’t One-Size-Fits-All and 4-Simple Questions to Actually Helping You Feel Better

I learned that people need their own set of systems, tools, and techniques that work for them based on their collective life experiences, daily roles and responsibilities, and what works for them and actually feels sustainable and not overly straining.

The issue with this emerging health and wellness boom in the past decade is the assumption that we all have to follow this cookie cutter one track blueprint of what it means to “look, feel, and be healthy” *cue the pilates princess in decked out $300+ Alo gear from head to toe holding a matcha and having a membership to cryo/infrared sauna clubs that they go to probably 1-2 week

Listen, I love me a good pilates Saturday morning with a side of an overpriced matcha but that is just downright not sustainable for me 24/7.

Our perception of what it means to be healthy has been jaded to feel like this giant, overdaunting task that feels so far and distant that truthfully, it’s not very motivating for 99% of the population of real ass people who just want to simply feel good and better about themselves.

So here I am to share with you, that this is exactly why I’m creating this series.

It’s to debunk a lot of the health and wellness world, make it more digestible, palatable, and just real as fuck from someone who traverses the different worlds of evidence-based, conventional western medicine, to exploring eastern medicine philosophies, and what are just downright fads brainwashing our perceptions of what it means to be “healthy” by emerging, overly branded health and wellness brands popping up like fruit flies who spend way too much on marketing and brand development and not their actual services and products.

Someone’s had to say it, simply because after being in the health and wellness industry for over 10+ years now, I’m finally seeing and noticing all the emerging patterns and trends, and all I have to say is, as a society we have just overcomplicated it all.

And last disclaimer, I am by no means shitting on infrared saunas, cold plunges, NAD therapy and all that good jazz, all I am saying is that there is a time and place for everything.

And if you are someone wanting to up your health and wellness routine for the true intention of simply wanting to feel better inside and out, starting with those technical modalities is honestly not going to be the best bang for your buck.

You know what is? Coming back to the basics.

Audit your current lifestyle by rating yourself on a scale of 0-10 for each of these categories: (0 = no bueno, 10 = as good as Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s)

  1. What is my sleep quality like?

  2. What is my current nutrition like?

  3. What is my stress management like?

  4. How much am I moving my body?

Then at the end, tally it all up.

If you got a score of:

  • Level 1: <25, lots of good work we can do here

  • Level 2: <30, not bad, but definitely still some improvements we can make to better optimize your life

  • Level 3: <35, honestly amazing job, but still definitely some gaps we can work on to get you to the next level

  • Level 4: 1 or 2 points off of 40 - to my unicorns out there, I commend you for your dedication to yourself. Now ask yourself, are there goals you have that you are currently working towards, or things you never thought were possible? If so, let’s get you there.

Whichever level you are at — I’m here to support you towards living your best, most optimal quality of life yet. One that is full of energy, vibrance, and motivation to simply continue living your best life.
